Zidane to takeover United?

With Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho becoming an increasingly disgruntled figure at Old Trafford former Real Madrid Boss Zinedine Zidane has thrown his hat in for the Red Devils job should Mourinho depart Manchester at the end of the season.

The 46-year-old Frenchman, who won an unprecedented 3 back to back Champions League Trophies, not to mention winning La Liga in the 2016/17 season has been out of work since stepping down as Real Madrid boss in July 2018 taking a well deserved break from Football following his success in Madrid.

It is well documented that Mourinho’s stay at a club usually doesn’t go well in his third season in charge, case and point his title defence capitulation in 2015-16 with Chelsea where Mourinho was sacked halfway through the season.

Should Mourinho leave Old Trafford it is believed that Zidane is one of the top candidates to replace him. Also included on the shortlist is former Manchester United centre-back Laurent Blanc who has been out of work since departing PSG in 2015-16, former Chelsea man Carlo Ancelotti, Newcastle’s Rafa Benitez and former Barcelona man Luis Enrique.

Nobody can deny the success Mourinho has had at Manchester United, not to mention the star pulling power the Portuguese manager has. Yet it is his brash and outspoken nature in the media and the defensive style of play that has annoyed even the most avid Mourinho fan.

Zidane, who has entered superstar status in management following his success at Los blancos would be a welcome addition at Old Trafford with an exciting style of play in his preferred narrow 4-1-2-1-2.

Not to mention whilst having the pulling power only super passed by the likes of Pep Guardiola and Mourinho the Frenchman utilizes the youth talent that a club offers.

One only has to look at the success of Lucas Vazquez and Marcos Asensio to see how successful Zidane is at Youth Development, and considering the youth facilities and young players the Red Devils have it is a mouth-watering prospect for Manchester United’s youth academy.

But what do you think, will Mourinho depart Old Trafford at the end of this season? Will Zidane replace him, if not let us know.
