Why do I like Aaron Ramsey?
Well when I first started watching Arsenal he stood out immediately with his hair and how immensely calm under pressure he was. For example not just when he was surrounded by opposition players but in cup finals too. 20% of all of the Welshman’s goals were important.
He started his career at Cardiff City youth setup, he spent 8 years there working himself up the ranks to become the youngest player to don the Blue of Cardiff. He played 28 games including the 2008 FA Cup final. Ramsey went for £8m to Arsenal which was the fourth highest transfer that year.
He was making a good impression at Arsenal until he broke his leg in 2010. After a few loan spells for Forest and Cardiff City to return to match fitness he re-established his playing style like before his injury. The following season after after his return to Arsenal he became a key player scoring 16 goals in all competitions including the winner against Hull City in the FA Cup Final. His 3rd appearance in the FA Cup final was quiet by his big match standards but he returned to form in the 2017 final he scored the winning goal.
His international career is equally as impressive as his club career, making his debut in 2008 but along with Gareth Bale he lead Wales to the first major tournament in years in 2016 (European Championships). They got to the Semi Finals but Ramsey also made it into the team of the tournament. Also not many players can boast to have played football for TeamGB in the Olympics but Ramsey can.
Arsene Wenger said “if i was a midfielder, i would have loved to have had what he has. He can defend, he can attack, he can score goals”.
I wish he was still at the club as he was the one player who played with passion, but our loss is Juventus’s gain, and even more painful as no fee was involved.
