Who Should Chelsea Sign This January
Conte has been consistenly been saying that he wants to recruit players in this transfer market, and have been linked with many top names in the game. Having already signed Ross Barkley right at the start of the month, for a relatively cheap £15 million there could be a few more through the door at Stamford Bridge.
Alex Sandro has been linked with a move to the West London club for a good few years now. Many Chelsea fans have been crying out for some competition on the left side of defence to rival Marcos Alonso, and Alex Sandro would be the perfect fit. He has many plaudits, he is also described as one of the most complete wing backs in world football, he is fantastic going forward as an attacking threat and contributes many assists for his team, with his blistering pace beating opponents, exceptionally quick feet and his strength it makes it very hard for opponents to take the ball of him. Not only is he good with running with the ball he is also a very calm and composed passer of the ball especially with is left foot. Sandro is also a terrific reader of the game and is very rarely caught out of position. If Chelsea are to prize Alex Sandro away from Turin they will have to spend big.
Aubameyang has been linked with Chelsea for a number of years now. He would be a perfect fit for Conte’s team. Aubameyang is a world class striker who finds the net on a consistent basis. Chelsea fans have been wanting another striker for a number of months now to challenge Morata. Initially when Dortmund signed him in 2013 he was saw as a wide man, but it wasn’t until Thomas Tuchel took over in 2015 that Aubameyang started to play as a centre forward, since then his movement and goal-scoring ability have been taken to another level. His pace is frightening and will leave defenders for dead. Aubameyang is a very accomplished finisher with his feet and his head. Aubameyang’s international record for Gabon reads at a very impressive 56 caps and 23 goals, making him his country’s top scorer of all time. His style of play would suit Conte’s style of play with his pace and his impeccable finishing.
Riyad Mahrez is currently showing the form that helped Leicester win the Premier League in 2016, which also saw him being crowned PFA’s Players Player of the Year. Leicester signed Mahrez for a ridiculously cheap £500k in January 2014, since then Mahrez’s stock has been rising and rightly so. Mahrez’s best season so far came in the 2015-16 season where he scored 17 goals, 11 assists in 37 Premier League games as Leicester shocked the football world by winning the Premier League. After his impressive season many thought Mahrez would get his big move to one of the games biggest clubs, unfortunately it didn’t materialise for Mahrez. Last season he couldn’t keep his form up only scoring 6 goals in the entire campaign 11 less then the previous season. The current season has seen Mahrez’s form improve scoring 7 goals in 22 games, already beating last season’s goalscoring tally. Chelsea already have two key members of the Leicester’s title winning squad, will Mahrez become the third? and earn his big move? only time will tell
