From beating Bayern Munich to win the champions league, to narrowly beating Rotherham away. That’s one of the many things that’s gone wrong for Aston Villa in recent years.

Back in the good years of the 2000’s when relegation was a mere distance thought. With 6th place finishes coming in left, right and centre. To coming 20th in 2016 and being demoted to the championship for the first time since the premier league formed back in 1992.

With players like John Carew, Gareth Barry, Ashley Young and James Milner sporting the claret and blue colours. To now having Libor Kozak. What’s gone wrong at Aston Villa?

One man, Randy Lerner. He bought the club and most fans hoped for greatness like former owner, Doug Ellis, had provided. So good he has a stand in his memory. But what did Lerner do wrong?

MONEY! One thing Lerner wouldn’t spend for the club. Hiring managers like Remi Garde and being an all-round bad owner. Taking Villa from 6th to 20th in a few years.

But now, Dr Tony Xia, the new owner, has his good intentions and is investing money into the team. With £80 million being spent from Summer 2016 to January 2017, the man is not afraid to splash the cash. Manager Steve Bruce leading to club to 3/3 wins and 3/3 clean sheets. A feat not achieved since 2010. Taking them to 5 home wins in a row. The club currently sit 15th in the championship but things are most certainly on the upside!

Wrong signings are where the club struggled too. With players like Ross McCormack and Libor Kozak filling the books, there isn’t much room for bad players at the club anymore with Steve Bruce taking a no nonsense approach to his managerial role. The club made lots of new signings with players like Henri Lansbury and Conor Hourihane entering Bodymoor Heath. The club is now looking up for sure! UTV❤?
