Manchester United and Transfer deadline day drama are never ending love-story. Now another season, another transfer window, Manchester United are being linked with number of players but what can we expect in these last hours of 2020/21 season summer transfer window? Manchester United surprised everyone by the quick signing of Dutch international Donny Van de Beek from Ajax without the usual drama and long lasting negotiations. Many including fans and critics thought this window will be different, but same story repeats, Sancho, Gabriel, Reguilon, Telles, Thiago, Cavani, Jovic, Dembele.. different names linking with United in the media’s with never ending negotiation stories.

One name stands out from these numerous transfer target, young sensation Jadon Sancho (20). Rumours and negotiation were started from last season. Borussia Dortmund were clear from the start, it’s €120m or nothing. Manchester United succeeded in agreeing personal terms with Sancho beating the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and of course the biggies Real Madrid and Barcelona. But even after reaching an agreement with the player in July, United haven’t made significant progress in negotiations with Dortmund. According to multiple reports from England and Germany there is still €20 difference in their valuation.

From the beginning, it was always up to Manchester United whether to meet the asking price or to play the waiting game. While the rival clubs strengthened their position by multiple signings United so far have completed only one. It was reported that Dortmund and Sancho have a gentleman agreement to facilitate his transfer if Manchester United meets the asking price. So there is still optimism even in these last hours that the transfer will take place. Both club have also shortlisted their replacements also. Let’s take a look at the possible Sancho replacements linked with Manchester United.

According to latest reports Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele (23) is the front runner. Barcelona are willing to part ways with the frenchman only if it is a permanent transfer. They expects to coup at least €60m above from this transfer while Manchester only wants to take him for one season loan. Permanent transfer will shutdown the possibility of Jadon Sancho move in coming windows also.

Another interesting replacement considered is Ismaila Sarr (22) from relegated side Watford. The case is similar with Dembele as Watford want a permanent sale of above €40m while United wants only a loan with option to buy move. There is also possibilities of signing a temperory replacements like Douglas Costa from Juventus and Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan. Both players were once targeted by United in previous years. They were offered to United multiple times this summer.

It is clear that Jadon Sancho is desired target of OGS and only concern is ‘Are United going to pay €120m or wait for next window?’. It will be more difficult for Manchester United in next summer because there will be multiple clubs are able to break the bank for the signature of young superstar. But anything can happen till the deadline. Let’s see whether it will be a happy ending or more miseries for Manchester United fans all over the world this summer.
