As much as we love to watch football for its quality, sometimes it’s the human side of the sport that brings the most entertainment.
Let’s take a look at some human highlight reels from Wednesday’s football action across Europe…
Arsenal vs Vitoria Guimares
UEFA scheduled Arsenal’s Europa League group stage match against Portuguese side Vitoria Guimaraes as part of its regional protocol. The Gunners form hasn’t been the best as of late. Arsenal gave up their lead to draw the match 1-1, and the best bits of banter came from Arsenal fans reflecting on their Champions League days. Football Twitter never disappoints.

Lokomotiv Moscow vs Juventus
You have to feel for Cristiano Ronaldo. First, his goal gets taken away by Aaron Ramsey, then head coach Maurizio Sarri subs him out with the score tied at 1-1. Goals are to Ronaldo what air is to humans, and this wasn’t the first time a teammate has stolen a goal from CR7. Incredible.
"Monkey dey work, Baboon dey chop" is what Ramsey did to Ronaldo. 😂 😂 pic.twitter.com/tvRtQZAZtg

Real Madrid vs Galatasaray
Brazilian wonderkid Rodrygo Goes had the chance to complete his hattrick within the first 10 minutes of Madrid’s group stage tie against Galatasaray. His captain Sergio Ramos however, had other ideas. Ramos took the pen (and Rodrygo’s hattrick) before cheekily chipping the ball past Muslera to give Madrid a 3-0 lead. Some Madridistas, however, felt he should’ve let Rodrygo have his moment. Rodrygo eventually got his hattrick, but was Ramos in the wrong?

Red Star Belgrade vs Tottenham
If you haven’t played FIFA 20 yet, Tottenham’s first goal vs Red Star Belgrade is a preview of the game. The play had it all. Crossbar challenge, goal-line clearance, non-penalty call, missed sitter and a tight finish all in one. Lo Celso’s goal was a movie.
Real life FIFA 20.

Atlético Madrid vs Bayer Leverkusen
Horrible, horrible own goal by Thomas Partey. The less said about it the better.
GOAL! Bayer Leverkusen 1-0 Atletico Madrid

Atalanta vs Manchester City
This match was completely bonkers. City were awarded a penalty in the first half after Raheem Sterling was ruled to have been fouled inside the box. VAR correctly overturned the decision to a free-kick. Sterling’s free-kick then hit Ilicic’s hand, giving City a second penalty. This time, the decision stood, but Gabriel Jesus shanked his penalty. City missed the chance to go up 2-0 at the half, and underdogs Atalanta equalized early in the second half.
The drama rolled over late through the match. Right-back Kyle Walker filled in goal for City due to Ederson’s half time injury and substitute Claudio Bravo’s sending off. City held on for a draw but they were made to sweat. Crazy brazy.

Chelsea vs Ajax
It didn’t happen on Wednesday, but Chelsea’s 4-4 thriller against Ajax Tuesday night produced what could’ve been the goal of the season. Kurt Zouma’s Messi-esque run was a thing of beauty. The Frenchman evaded four Ajax players with ease, to the delight of Chelsea fans and Lampard alike. His finish on the other hand, was more fitting for the NFL…
