Waddock’s Injury Problems

Manager of Aldershot Town Gary Waddock started the season in great form, winning 3 out of 3 against Halifax, Torquay and Guiseley. As a team, we have managed to keep the whole squad except two players, including Anthony Straker who departed to Bath and highly rated 17-year-old Idris Kanu who departed to Peterborough for an undisclosed fee.

Now the injury problems started. In no particular order our squad is getting smaller every game due to the injury problems. Last week, Nick Arnold damaged his ACl, which means he will be out for the whole season. Shamir Fenelon scored the only goal last week against Solihull Moors and in the process of scoring, the winger got himself into an awkward position which looks like a Hamstring injury.

Matt McClure started last week, even though he carried an injury. It was a different but exciting bench with Jake Gallagher coming back from an illness, Mark Smith and two 17 year old’s who made their debut appearances for the shots. Bernard Mensah has not started for the shots since pre-season due to an injury. He will hopefully make a recovery in the next few weeks. Shaun Okojie will hopefully be on the team sheet against Dover. He also suffered a light injury.
