Since my last article, link below the inevitable has occurred and Roy Hodgson has left:
If Swansea do not get promoted a potential target is Steve Cooper, he’s been heavy linked with the role. As a Brentford fan he is not high on our respected list but when you break down his achievements including England Under 17 World Cup winning boss and keeping The Swans in the top half of the table for 2 seasons it makes sense. Personally I still lean towards Scott Parker as he has won promotion with Fulham and nearly kept them up, he has more tactical nous than Frank Lampard who’s managed in the Champions League.
Playing wise it’s only been confirmed that Cahill has a contract on the table, the mass exodus is still occurring. Quite a few top flight sides are broaching a rebuild summer but Palaces is the biggest, with no prospect of incoming funds for the outgoing talent. Free transfers and loans will be maximised for the squad holes, transfer funds are never the biggest at Selhurst Park. Ryan Bertrand, John Lundstram and Nikola Maksimovic represent the free transfer talent they should bring in. Potential loanees include the Chelsea pair Gallagher and Guehi. Victor Nelsson from Copenhagen has been permanent transfer linked, he is a young danish talent, the type of player the recruitment team will need to unearth on a multiple scale. Value for money wise talent from non promoted Championship sides or PL relegated teams could be costly, the likes of Billing and Brooks from Bournemouth will not be cheap for instance. Emerging talent from around the world costing around the £10m mark or lower, which fits Brexit classifications is surely the preferred option.
It will an intriguing summer, the choices made regarding management and talent on the pitch need to be on point.
