Chris Kinnear’s XI Outclassed the Shots on a day where nothing went for us.
The Shots went into today’s game with many injured players and a new face to the subs bench. After last weeks win against Solihull Moors the shots wanted to make it 2 wins out of 2. The starting line-up was strong enough to get a result versus Dover, however, it wasn’t meant to be.
Bobby-Joe Taylor was not included today due to injury, which made space for youngster Eoin Kirwan to be available even though he did not get any game time. Going onto the game, the shots started brightly, quick one-two passing trying to break the Dover defense which happened, however the final product was nowhere to be found. 35 minutes went and the first goal was scored by Gallifuoco, and of course that was annoying for us fans.
As the first half finished, I’m sure Gary had a go at them in the dressing room, telling them to take their chances as we did not challenge Mitch Walker as we could have done.
As soon as the second half started, I thought we would get at them a lot more, try to get them on the counter. However, it really wasn’t like that. The shots had lots of possession but again, like the first half, we couldn’t score. In the 53rd minute, Jake Gallagher came off for Fabien Robert, who is on loan from Forest Green Rovers for one month. In my opinion he did alright to fill the gaps down the middle and the wing but still needs more time to gel with these players. 65 minutes went and Dover scored the second, Kadell Daniel shot across goal and scored. By this point, we knew the game was truly over.
Overall it was a disappointing result, but the boys gave it their all and we go onto Tuesday nights game against Ebbsfleet.
Attendance: 1862 – (144)
