PSG Stunned Champions League Giants Barcelona as they thumped the Spanish side 4-0 in front of their own fans. Here are the player ratings from the match.

PSG:

GK- Trapp 7

Charged down Gomes to deny him in a one on one situation early on, however apart from that he didn’t have much to do apart from come of his line a few times with pace sweeping up any threat with clearances.

RB- Meunier 8.5

Looked really impressive with a solid performance both defensively and offensively. Restricted Barcelona’s attack to a bare minimum with important tackles, going forward was equally brillant, picking up an assist after skipping past Neymar with skill, then running from near his own box to slide the ball in for Cavani resulting in the fourth goal.

CB- Marquinhos 8

Solid performance, didn’t have much defending to do but the few times Barcelona were in dangerous areas he dealt with it well. Dealt with Suarez and co perfectly.

CB- Kimpembe 9

Superb champions league debut, made vital tackles throughout and looks a composed talented player at such a young age. Outplayed arguably the most dangerous front three of all time.

LB- Kurzawa 8

Solid performance, looked threatening going forward at times and also defended very well leaving Barcelona’s talented forwards really struggling to make any impact.

CM- Veratti 8 (Nkunku 80′)

His energy, crisp passing and pressing was a joy to watch. Dispossessed Messi on numerous occasions, most notably dispossessing him and then finding Draxler with an eye of the needle pass to grab a deserved assist.

CM- Rabiot 8

Feared for him after being booked on just three minutes fouling Neymar. However after that he didn’t seem to put a foot wrong, making numerous tackles and frustrating Barcelona’s attack with his energy and pressing throughout.

CM- Matuidi 8

Played really well as per usual. The Frenchman has an engine that never seems to run out, box to box throughout in the oppostitions face pressing and making challenges and then looking dangerous with his energetic runs and crisp passing. Frustrated Neymar all night with tackles, created good chances which should have been finished. The complete midfielder for me.

CAM- Di Maria 9.5 *MOTM (Lucas 61′)

Just outstanding. A nightmare for Barcelona who stood off him on numerous occasions and were left punished throughout with his skill, accurate passing and mazy runs, not to mention his finishing. Scored the opener with a brilliant free kick that left Ter Stegen with no chance, then in the second half he finished what was a wonderful team goal with a perfect curling effort outside the box which went straight into the top left corner to get PSG’s third and his second of the night.

RM- Draxler 9.5 (Pastore 86′)

Superb performance from the German. Took his goal brillantly with a superb neat finish that sailed past Ter Stegen. In the rest of the game he was equally superb; finding space, creating chances just terrorizing Barca’s defense all night long. Fantastic pace and creativity, looks a great signing after signing in January from Wolfsburg.

ST- Cavani 8

Took his goal very well with a fierce, convincing drive that sailed past Ter Stegen. His movement in the game was superb, a nightmare for Barca. Did miss a couple of good chances but his performance overall was very good.

Subs:

Lucas- 7.5 Looked dangerous with his blistering pace when he came on.

Nkunku- 7 Young man had a solid performance when he came on looking calm and assured on the ball.

Pastore- N/A

Barcelona:

GK- Ter Stegen 6.5

His role as the sweeper keeper coming of his line and making clearances with pace impressively, reduced the already embarrasing deficit. Couldn’t do anything about the four goals he concueded and was especially let down by his wall in the free kick for the opener.

RB- Sergio Roberto 5.5

Was always going to be exposed after having endured previous horror shows in the group stages versus Manchester City, and unfortunately tonight was no different for the Spaniard who was left isolated all game long with no help from his team mates whatsoever.

CB- Pique 4

Unconvincing night for the Barcelona legend. Was closed down throughout therefore he offered none of his passing creativity he usually can offer. Also, he stood of PSG’s defense too often creating space and was at fault for the forth goal especially, for that reason.

CB- Umtiti 3

Dreadful performance, a night to forget. Missed an absolute sitter, late on that would of pulled possibly a priceless away goal back for Barca striking the post with a header just a yard out, but to be honest that was the least of his problems tonight. Looked out of place all night, gave away the free kick with a foul on Draxler that resulted in the opener and is then caught ball watching as he steps away from his marked man Draxler who ends up scoring the games second goal.

LB- Alba 4.5

Unusually didn’t offer much going forward and defensively struggled when Paris went forward. A bad performance but not a horror show like some of his other team mates.

CM- Andre Gomes 2 (Rafinha 58′)

I was debating giving him an 1 which says it all. The amount of times he was dispossessed was staggering, constantly giving the ball away which resulted in manager Luis Enrique substituting him after 58 minutes after understandably having enough. He offered nothing for the side, lacking any pressing or pace especially. Missed a golden opportunity in the first half at 1-0 when he was played through by Neymar and when unmarked hit the ball straight at Trapps body for a comfortable save. Also booked for a stamp on Draxler in the first half.

CM- Busquets 4.5

Uninspiring performance from someone who is usually so consistent. His passing may of been reasonably accurate but lacked any conviction, often going sidewards instead of looking for a dangerous pass forwards. Was at fault especially for the fourth goal after being punished for repeatably stepping off and not pressing PSG attackers which created space for the midfield all night.

CM- Iniesta 3 (Rakitic 73′)

His age showed unfortunately, an incredibly deflated performance which lacked pressing and energy especially. Struggled to create anything really in the match also.

RW- Messi 2

Terrible performance by the standards of the second best player in the world. Just didn’t turn up like his team, coming into virtually his own half to get any touches on the ball and was dispossessed on the ball on many occasions, which in particular led to the second goal.

ST- Suarez 2

I was shocked. To sum up his performance you would say ‘invisible’.

LW- Neymar 7

Best of  a bad bunch. On paper he will be disappointed with the result but he can’t with his performance, was an actual solitary threat throughout and looked up for tonight’s game never stopping going on mazy runs and picking out passes. It’s a real shame none of his team mates shared his enthusiasm and commitment. Smashed the ball against the advertising board late on after wrongly being denied a corner kick, illustrating his and anyone associated with Barcelona football club’s frustration and embarrassment on what has been a terrible night in the clubs history.

Subs:

Rafinha- 4.5 struggled to make any impact on the game.

Rakitic- 6 Looked bright when he came on. I was very surprised not to see him in the starting line up.
