Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba once again admitted his love for Real Madrid, has said he would love to play for Real Madrid one day but his is currently focused on his club Manchester United and wants to take them to top after their poor start to the Premier League season.
“Many things have been said,” Pogba told in a press conference on Thursday at France’s training camp, the day after their 7-1 friendly win over Ukraine. “Of course, every footballer would love to play for Real Madrid and would dream about that. It’s a dream of mine, so why not one day?
“But I’m at Manchester United and I love my club. I play for Manchester United, I want to perform well for them and do everything to get them back to where they deserve to be.”
The 27 year old midfielder tried to move from Manchester United in 2019 as he said he wants a new challenge after then newly appointed Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane opened about his admiration on Pogba. Zidane tried to bring him to his Real Madrid but eventually failed because of Manchester United doesn’t wanted to sell him.
Pogba, who has just entered the final year of his existing contract at Old Trafford, went on to reveal that he has yet to be offered a renewal, although United have the option to extend the current contract by 1 year.
“I have not spoken with Ed Woodward (executive vice-chairman of Manchester United),” he said. “We did not talk about a renewal. For now, I am in Manchester and I mainly think about getting back to the best of my form.
“I think there will be a moment when the club will come and talk to me and maybe offer me something, or not. So far, nothing has happened. I can’t tell you something that I don’t know.”
The Frenchman was not in his best form after recovering from tested COVID 19 positive. His bad form also reflects his club Manchester United, started poorly this season campaign and they suffered humiliating 1-6 loss at home, against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
According to Spanish reports Paul Pogba is not Real Madrid’s priority next summer as they are preparing a massive transfer window in 2021 summer including Kylian Mbappe of PSG. Real Madrid is heavily linked with young sensation Edourdo Camavinga of Rennes for next summer. His potential arrival and emergence of Federico Valverde from Castilla keeping Pogba away from Real Madrid.
There is much time left for next summer, if he regains his old form and continues to impress Madrid may try to bring him to Bernabeu. Juventus are also keen on bringing him back to Turin.
