With the January transfer window now officially open, some clubs might reinforce their squads.

The January transfer window has started with a bang with Liverpool signing Virgil Van Djik for a world record fee of  £75 million beating Manchester City and Chelsea for the Saints defenders signature. Champions Chelsea are expected to make at least one signing this window, with Ross Barkley being the most likely. Barkley did reject a move to Chelsea this summer on excuse of not being completely fit but Chelsea will move again for the Everton midfielder and are expecting a  £30 million bid will be enough for a player who is in his final six months of his contract. But Chelsea will look to complete the deal as soon as possible with Tottenham lurking.

Chelsea are looking to reinforce the look wing-back position. Thomas Lemar and Alex Sandro are two possible candidates. Chelsea were believed to be near signing Sandro this summer and were willing to make him the most expensive defender in world football but the deal failed to materialise and Juventus sold Bonucci instead. While Lemar is a more versatile player. He can play on either flanks as well as on left wing-back role. He could provide backup for Hazard, a player without whom Chelsea look lifeless. Yannick Carrasco of Atletico is also another player who is being linked with a move to the blues.

Conte also wants backup for top scorer Alvaro Morata. Deputy Batshuayi is not good enough and a false nine, Hazard, was opted instead of Batshuayi. It is reported that the club are looking for a target man centre forward with Richmond Boake of Red Star Belgrade and Christian Benteke of Crystal Palace being looked at.

Having qualified for the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup, Chelsea’s fixture list is only getting more congested. So a bigger squad is required to cope and to maintain hopes for silverware this season.
