Match Report: Hull City 2-1 Southampton

Written by Luke Evans

Robert Snodgrass and Micheal Dawson inspired Hull City to a 2-1 victory against Southampton at the KCOM Stadium today.

However, the Saints opened the scoring by a controversial penalty in the 6th minute, which Austin smashed the ball into the back of the net, putting Southampton 1-0 up.

Just 5 minutes after the Saints scored, Abel Hernandez went to the ground, in what looked like a hamstring injury.

But, however, just after Hernandez went off, Will Keane was also taken off due to injury, in which he was seriously limping off, just 15 minutes into the game.

Mbokani came on for the injured Hernandez and Snodgrass came on for the injured Will Keane.

However, Hull came out the better team in the second-half, in which, Robert Snodgrass swept home his 4th League goal of the season from Sam Clucas’ low cross.

Micheal Dawson scored the second goal for Hull thanks to a free-kick from Robert Snodgras that Dawson headed past Fraser Forster.

However, the Saints did push for an equaliser in the last 10 minutes but Marshall made a string of saves.

Sam Clucas produced an excellent goal-line clearance from a Southampton crossing in the final seconds of the game.

This win ends a six-game losing streaks for the Tigers.
