Carlisle head down to Gloucestershire to face Cheltenham Town in a game where the blues could be knocked out of the automatic promotion places

Carlisle are going into his game after a rather disappointing 3-0 loss against Portsmouth at Brunton Park. Although the blues last two results before the clash against Portsmouth was against two very good sides (Doncaster and Wycombe) Carlisle really need to bounce back after conceding 3 and scoring none at home, they can do this by getting a solid win against Cheltenham on Tuesday night. Cheltenham are the exact same coming into the game getting 6 points out of their last 3, a possible 9 points. Their last win being a 1-0 win against relegation battlers Leyton Orient with the robins getting an early goal in the 21st minute earning them 3 points, so they’ll be looking to make it three wins in a row. It hasn’t all been doom and gloom for The Robins going unbeaten in the month of October and being 6 points clear of the drop down to non-league is a good achievement for the newly promoted side.

The clubs met early in the season at Brunton Park where the two teams played out an eventful 1-1 draw. The Robins were underdogs going into the game and they struck first in the 57th minute a potential upset goal for which would give Carlisle their first loss of the season. Later into that game Carlisle had many chances at goal but just couldn’t find the back of the net them chances resulting in the blues having 21 shots in that game. Carlisle left it late with an 89th minute goal from Jason Kennedy which was first of many for the midfielder being the clubs top scorer this season. So Carlisle gained a disappointing point from plenty of chances.

Although the game isn’t built up to be a massive one in my opinion this could be a big game in Carlisle’s quest for promotion with of course the chance of them not being in the automatic promotion places after tomorrow night but also picking up points where we need to no matter what the opponent. My score prediction for the game? I’m going to go out and say it’ll be a 1-0 win for Carlisle. I want Carlisle to win of course but i think Cheltenham will give Carlisle a tough game as they shown earlier in the season but Carlisle will be very disappointed if we lose this game as we should be picking up points against these teams below us as it could prove vital come the end of the season
