With West Bromwich Albion finishing in a respectable 14th this season under Tony Pulis, the Baggies will be looking to improve once again under a manager who virtually guarantee’s Premier League survival. Fans will now be expecting this as a minimum requirement but also to see an increase in more expansive football at the Hawthorns. Here I identify some of the best candidates WBA could bring on loan for the 2016/17 season.
ALEX IWOBI – ARSENAL
The 20-year-old Nigerian burst onto the scene in the Premier League this season with two goals in his first two games against Everton and Watford. With the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil in the side may the youngster look for a move which can gurantee more game time.
DEMARI GRAY – LEICESTER
The former Birmingham winger joined the Premier League Champions in January but has struggled to break into the starting 11. The 19-year-old may be tempted to stay due to Champions League football but could also look for a move away for more regular playing time.
KEVIN WIMMER – TOTTENHAM
The 23-year-old centre-back who arrived for a £4.3 million fee last summer has struggled to break the partnership of Vertonghen and Alderweireld limiting him to just 21 appearances this summer. The Austrian international is still one of the best young defensive prospects in the league and would fit into Albion’s squad nicely.
WILFRED BONY – MANCHESTER CITY
This is probably the long shot on the list of 12 players. Since his big-money move from Swansea, Bony has failed to live up to his reputation at Manchester City. With Pep Guardiola coming in during the summer could Bony be part of the expected clear out? It’s doubtful he’d want to leave City for good but a loan may be an option.
CAMERON BORTHWICK-JACKSON – MANCHESTER UNITED
The 19-year-old has been one of the highlights in an average Manchester United season. Relatively unknown at the start of the season, the young full-back burst onto the scene and impressed. He recently signed a new contract with the club too after picking up the Under-21 player of the year award.
DANIEL AMARTEY – LEICESTER
Like Gray defensive midfielder Daniel Amartey joined the Premier League champions in the January transfer window. The versatile youngster who can play in defence or midfield featured just 5 times for the eventual Champions and at just 21-years-old could look for regular first team football.
JOEL CAMPBELL – ARSENAL
The Costa Rican winger has been linked with a loan move to Albion in the past and the rumours could easily resurface. While making 35 appearances for The Gunners this season the majority of those have come off the bench limiting his playtime.
SINAN BYTYQI – MANCHESTER CITY
The Manchester City under-21 player is one of their highest rated in the academy. The attacking midfielder spent the second half of this season playing in the Erdevise for SC Cambuur, the 21-year-old Austrian could look at another loan move next season.
ADNAN JANUZAJ – MANCHESTER UNITED
The young Belgian has endured a tricky 18 months at Manchester United. A loan moved to Dortmund ended early and he’s played just 5 times for the first team since his return from the Bundesliga back in the winter. He possesses a lot of talent and could be a successful loan signing in a league he knows well.
West Brom fans, which of these players would you take? Let us know in the comments below!
