Liverpool have reportedly made an exceptional £158 million offer for Real Madrid's Spanish attacking midfielder, Marco Asensio, with Jurgen Klopp looking to tempt the youngster with a move to Anfield, the Daily Mail reports.

Having signed a new deal with Madrid in September, the young Spanish international is under contract at the Santiago Bernabeu until 2023, with a reported release clause worth £613 million.

Highly regarded as one of Europe's hottest prospects, Asensio contributed 11 goals and six assists in his second full season at Madrid as they finished third in La Liga under Zinedine Zidane, prior to the Frenchman's resignation.

Spanish Media outlet, Mundo Deportivo, has claimed the Reds like Asensio 'very much' and hints that the Merseyside outfit will push all the way to secure the Spaniard's services. They also say that Madrid will most probably 'reject the offer in principle' but will be forced to 'study' the bid.

Horacio Gaggioli, agent of the former Mallorca youngster claims that Madrid have already rejected two offers of £130 million for Asensio in the last month, before adding: "He has an extraordinary future."

"You can imagine that they (the offers for Asensio) come from England because they can afford it without any problems", Gaggioli said. "They could even raise it."

Asensio signed for Real Madrid in 2014 for a fee of €3.9 million from Mallorca and has gone on to make 13 appearances for his national side. The youngster looks set to demand a much more commanding fee this time around.
