Lingard Potential Odegaard Alternative?

It is no secret that Jesse Lingard is a despised player by Arsenal fans. He has scored crucial goals against them in big matches and has felt the need to mock them every single time by dancing in front of the Emirates crowd. The feeling is, in this reporters view, mutual for Lingard as shown in the 3-3 draw for Arsenal and West Ham in March. Jesse Lingard, who is on loan in Stratford from Manchester United, has been an annoyance to Arsenal fans ever since 2017 when he scored a brace at the Emirates. The same again one season later when he scored one goal that knocked Arsenal out of the FA Cup.

But now, it seems Lingard has become a transfer target for Edu and Arteta as they are currently struggling to compromise with Real Madrid for an extended stay in North London for Martin Odegaard. The Norwegian midfielder has stated is interest to stay at the Emirates but Real Madrid are tough negotiators. The hope is to sign Odegaard on an extended loan deal if not on a permanent basis.

However, with Los Blancos being difficult to make the deal with, Edu and Arteta will have to look at alternatives and Jesse Lingard is one of the latter. He has been on fire ever since he was loaned out to West Ham and Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, is most likely sitting in his office realizing what he has let out of his grip.

The news has received mixed reviews from Arsenal fans. Some want him and some say he can either go back to Manchester or stay in the claret and blue part of London. AFTV contributor, Mr. DT, said in a video today, "I don't know how Arsenal fans would feel about Jesse Lingard at Arsenal. Does he need to be at a club like West Ham? (and that's not being disrespectful) but I don't know. It's an interesting one but would Manchester United sell to Arsenal? Would they be more obliged to sell to West Ham? I'm not sure."

At the end of the day, this reporter believes this is Jesse Lingard's choice to make. Will he stay at a club where fans love him? Will he go back to his parent club who probably won't play him? Or will he go to a club where fans don't even like him now?
