Could Karl Robinson Be The Man For Charlton?

Just over 7 days ago Charlton Athletic parted company with Russell Slade. The experienced Englishman is the sixth manager to leave the Addicks since March 2014.

The Addicks are now looking for the next man to take the reigns at Charlton and there are a few names in the hat such as Chris O’Loughlin who worked with the ludicrous Charlton owner Roland Duchatelet at Sint-Truidense but O’Loughlin has instead been offered a coaching role, so he will not take the hot seat. Kevin Nugent is keeping the hot seat warm as he remains in charge for the clash against Bristol Rovers, while Charlton continue their search for the next manager.

Karl Robinson currently sits as the favourite to take the job with the bookies but would he be the right man? I believe he would be. Karl worked under very good ownership at MK Dons and did very well at stabilising the club, he took the Dons on a fantastic journey including a run in the Championship. Robinson also picked up some famous results over the years, a 4-0 win at home to Manchester United being one result that stands out on his CV.

One thing that could potentially attract Robinson to the club would be the youth set up. Charlton has had some incredible talent over the last few years, with the likes of Ademola Lookman, Joe Gomez, and Jonjo Shelvey all progressing from the youth set up and making a name for themselves in SE7. Robinson has experience in developing young players, he worked with young English talent such as Dele Alli and Brendan Galloway. That could be beneficial for the young Addicks. Ezri Konsa and Brandon Hanlan could have a strong chance of breaking into the side if Robinson is appointed.

Passion is what the faithful Addicks fans are crying out for, and I am 100 per cent sure that is one thing the young Englishman could bring back to the club. Will Charlton appoint a British manager or will Roland Duchatelet opt for one of his puppets? No one is entirely sure but the man who does come in will have to live by the sword and bring that fight and desire back to the Valley.

Charlton fans, would Karl Robinson be a good appointment? Let us know in the comments below!
