Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka has admitted he faces a “selection headache” ahead of Boro’s game at home to Crystal Palace on Saturday. With De Roon, Friend and World Cup winning stopper Victor Valdes all back to full fitness, Karanka has a massive range of talented players in contention for his starting eleven.

With Clayton being a first team regular for Middlesbrough and Forshaw producing a man of the match performance against West Brom, Karanka faces a dilemma whether to include Marten De Roon in the side.

It's not only midfield that Karanka will have difficulty choosing players for, Callum Chambers is in contention for the game, however Karanka may include Barragan who has had a very impressive start to his Premier League campaign. Alternatively Emilio Nsue is available who can be a threat going forward.

New signing Adama Traore could find it hard to get into the first team for this game with Cristian Stuani producing two goals already this season, one of them winning Premier League goal of the season for August.

Although Karanka faces some really tough decisions on his starting eleven in the run up to this weekends game, he was happy that he had a broad choice of players. Middlesbrough are in a better position on the injury front compared to Pardew's Palace. Loic Remy is out of the game after picking up an injury in training, whilst Yohan Cabaye faces a late fitness test.
