Jurgen Klopp looks to Jan Oblak to solve Liverpool’s ongoing ‘keeper crisis

Liverpool have today been linked with one of the most highly rated goalkeepers in world football, Jan Oblak, as Jurgen Klopp looks set to find a new long term number one for the club after a disastrous Champions League final for German Loris Karius, as reported by the Daily Post.

The Reds have been linked to a number of goalkeepers since the transfer window opened as Klopp looks to replace Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius, the latter having a tough time in the Champions League final as two mistakes led Real Madrid to victory, causing the player to erupt in tears at the full time whistle, asking for the fans forgiveness.

Oblak, 25, has kept a staggering 92 clean sheets in 162 competitive games for Atletico Madrid since his arrival from Benfica, conceding only 100 goals in that time.

The Slovenian stopper is part of the ‘wall’ at Atletico, whose team are yet to taste La Liga defeat at their new home, the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano.

Only four teams have managed to find the net against him on home turf, with the club going 647 minutes without conceding a goal.

Oblak was part of the Europa League winning team last season which beat Marseille 3-0 in the final.

The £79 million rated goalkeeper would definitely be a welcome addition to the Kop, as defensive issues have been the problem for Liverpool in recent seasons. It’s safe to say there has been no problems in attack as Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino have all flourished this season, under Klopp’s attacking style of play.
