Once again Manchester United's David De Gea is being courted by Real Madrid a move which came to fruition last summer, but how important is the keeper to Manchester United's future success?.
For me De Gea is one of the worlds best shot stoppers and has had a major influence in helping United climb the Premier League table.Last summer it was obvious his head had been turned by Real Madrid and this was reflected in his performances and ended in him subsequently being dropped for some league and cup games.
Anyone who knows football appreciates that when a club like Real come in for you of course it is very difficult to turn down and who of course would not want to join Real Madrid.De Gea has an ever-growing reputation in world football as one of the best around and his performances have justified that statement,he has numerous times won United games with his exceptional shot stopping.
De Gea is an agile Goalkeeper who reads the game well and this must give confidence to a United back four when they are on the defensive in games.Mourinho must for me do everything in his power to keep him at the club and it appears that the United board are considering giving him another pay rise to keep him from the clutches of Real Madrid.
De Gea began his career at the age of 13 at Real's bitter rivals Atletico where he came through the youth system and then made his senior debut in 2009,he established himself as Atletico's number one and then helped the club win the Europa League and European Super Cup in his first year as the clubs number one.In 2011 Manchester United paid a British record fee of £17.8 million for the goalkeeper after a serious of exceptional displays for Atletico Madrid.
De Gea' United career started of a little shaky but as he got more game time he grew in confidence so did his performances and is now United's Number one,He has shown a great understanding with his team and in particular his defender's,and his manager thinks very highly of him and who wouldn't with again some of his MoM performances and his performance's every week.
So why must United keep him and do everything in their power to do so,for United to progress and develop again as a club under Mourinho he is an integral part of the first team set up and he gives his team confidence and communicates with his team mates,United have had some excellent keepers over the years like Schmiechel and Van Der Saar,De Gea is up their with them as a top stopper.
De Gea is Spains first choice keeper and to maintain a very high standard of performance is an achievement in its own right and can deliver at club and international level as he has proven.United for me need to build a team around him along with Pogba and Ibrahimovic,a solid spine is needed and United have always had that through their teams, and Mourinho is looking to do this and this will benefit United greatly for the future.
Will he stay or will he go who knows but United must do everything they can to hold on to there exceptionally talented number one.
