The recent controversy between Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Tyrone Mings is all getting a bit too much for social media following Saturdays 1-1 draw between Manchester United and Bournemouth. The bad tale of events started in the 44th minute in which it appears that Mings deliberately stood on Ibrahimovics head with his left foot following a slide tackle he made on Rooney and Ibra taking both of them out, leaving one very frustrated Ibrahimovic. Things did not get any better what so ever when Ibra decided to retaliate against Mings when both players challenged for the ball. With both players in the air hoping to win a header, it looks as though Ibra deliberately elbowed Mings in the face leaving Mings on the floor holding his head in pain. Words from the referee came a minute later with the referee of the game Kevin Friend speaking to both the captain of Manchester United Wayne Rooney and the 35 year old striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic himself after the elbow to the head of Mings. Kevin Friend was very forgiving in this game as Ibrahimovic was very lucky to not get sent off. Friend has been hauled with abuse on social media due to the decisions he made in the game with the key one being not sending off Zlatan Ibrahimovic for the elbow to the side of the face of Tyrone Mings. Both have been given bans by the FA of 3
matches and have until Tuesday evening to respond to the ban. The games that Ibrahimovic will be missing is a cup quarter-final against Chelsea and premier league games against Middlesbrough and West Brom although he would be available for Europa League matches. Tyrone Mings will be missing for the Bournemouth premier league games against West Ham, Swansea City and Southampton.
