Benfica vs CSKA Moscow 19.45 kick off @Estadio da Luz
Benfica are favourites for this game. In a group where Benfica is the second favourite team to go through the next stage this is the sort of game they cannot afford to lose points. Benfica should have enough quality to beat this Moscow team. Despite saying this, CSKA Moscow are not a Sunday league team and have plenty of talent themselves that along with a good game plan would get them points. Vitinho for the Russians is the player that will cause Benfica the biggest headache. On the other side its a lot harder to pick with Benfica having a lot of great attacking options such as Jonas, Seferovic and Salvio.
Final Result- 3-1 Benfica win
Manchester United vs FC Basel 19.45 kick off @Old Trafford
The ‘Red Devils’ are the clear favourites not only for this game but to finish first in Group A. Manchester United really need to win this game to start this campaign with serious intent. Curiously in 2011 Basel knocked out Manchester United out of the group stages. Also part of that group in 2011 was Benfica that went through along with Basel to the next stage. Most people will be expecting a Manchester United win and anything other than that will undoubtedly cause a huge bollocking from Mourinho to his players. FC Basel are experienced in this competition and they know to get through to the next stage even a point at Old Trafford will be great to their ambitions. Leading the line is ex Norwich flop Ricky Van Wolfswinkel whom is on magnificent form this year scoring 7 goals in 7 league games.
Final Result- 3-0 win to United
