Fulham are chasing Celtic’s Belgian World Cup star Dedryck Boyata. The Cottagers have been very active in this summers window bringing in some very goos singings including both Alfie Mawson and Calum Chambers and it is now believed that the West London outfit have made a bid of £9 million for Boyata according to The Times.
Celtic fans would have been thinking that they may just keep their World Cup star until the January transfer window at least after Fulham singed Alfie Mawson over the weekend before adding Calum Chambers to their squad on Monday on a season long loan from Arsenal.
However, Fulham have been linked with the Belgian star all summer and are now believed to have made a bid of £9 million. Boyata only has one more year remaining on his Celtic contract which has attracted the Fulham interest even more as they know they may be able to get him on a slightly cheaper deal.
It is rumoured that the Whites are after the former Manchester City youngster to bolster their defence after the loss of Tomas Kalas who has returned to Chelsea after a two season long loan spell at The Cottage.
It is not yet known if Celtic have responded to Fulham’s bid. Many feel that considering the player will be a free agent come the end of the season a bid of £9 million is one that is good for Celtic and will allow them to re-invest and replace the Belgian. It was reported by The Sun in July that Fulham would be making an offer and would give the player a significant pay rise to make the move more tempting for both parties.
Boyata made 39 appearances for Celtic last season and scored 3 goals in all competitions. He has won three Scottish Premiership titles, two League Cups and two Scottish Cups during his time at Celtic Park.
