The reason why Lelouch still has his Geass is because he didn't take the Code from the same person who gave him his Geass: he took his Geass from CC, and he took his Code from Charles. Thus, he now possesses both immortality and a Geass. This is also a reason that the title is Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion.
With no one left capable of opposing him, Lelouch becomes the ruler of the world. Some time after the battle with Schneizel and the Black Knights, Lelouch appoints Marrybell in charge of Damocles. Lelouch arranges the public execution of the Black Knight leaders and the U.F.N.
Most significantly, Shirley does not die in the compilation movies. In the compilation movies, right after he uses his Geass Canceller and she regains her memories, Jeremiah personally approaches Shirley and warns her to stay out of trouble.

Even without the special power of Geass, he turns out to be a tough opponent by his genius-level intellect of IQ 210. In every single fight of Code Geass, Lelouch always read his opponents tactics ahead of time and played his moves precisely.
Code Geass: Movie Trilogy
When Jeremiah uses his Geass canceller on her, he approaches her and warns her not to get involved in Lelouch's affairs. Thus, she does not have her fateful encounter with Rolo and ultimately survives the events of the movie trilogy.
With an in-person interaction and Lelouch's Geass in play, he could easily make Light obey any order and even make him forget possessing the Death Note. Given the strengths and limitations of their respected abilities, Lelouch has the advantage over Light who requires more information and is slower to act.
Suzaku accepts the Geass, though crying as he had killed his best friend. Later, he is shown wearing the guise of Zero protecting Nunnally, with which one can only conclude that Suzaku had truly accepted the fate of Zero and would never lead a normal life as Suzaku Kururugi.
