In paddling most people use a single base layer under their drytops. A wetsuit style top (Hydroskin- NRS= Great choice) or a thiner fleece style works best. In really cold weather people tend to add on layers. This is a great option because you can layer based on the weather, length of run, or any special needs.
A rash guard for your upper body is also advisable to avoid chaffing and itchiness from the wetsuit material. When paddling in colder temperatures, this extra layer of clothing will keep your body warm. You have the chance to choose a rash guard with long sleeves or one with shorter sleeves.
Either a wetsuit or a drysuit is a safe choice for kayaking. Both are designed to keep you warm in the water. Wear a drysuit over a base layer of long underwear and a middle layer of fleece. A wetsuit should be worn directly against the skin, and you can top it with a warm jacket.
What to wear – Shorts and t-shirts are ok if weather good but you should bring a waterproof top and a fleece in any event. Footwear – old trainers or wetsuit boots for your feet, (No flipflops or crocs) whatever you wear should have good tread as the banks are rough, muddy, rocky and slippery.

What to Wear Using a Sit-On-Top Canoe. With sit-on-tops, you will get wet… especially on your backside. Again, a hot summer's day and a t-shirt and shorts may be OK, but prolonged exposure to water and wind, and the body's temperature soon drops, so be prepared.

Dress for the water, not the weather – and expect changing temperatures. You should dress to keep yourself warm if you fall into the water.

Urinating inside a dry wetsuit is definitely not a good idea - it will start stinking and corroding the seams and stitching of your second skin. While in the lineup, if peeing is the only option, let some saltwater get in and drain out, avoiding lying down on your board for a long time.
Can you wear leggings under a wetsuit? Yes you could wear legging under your wetsuit but if they are made out of cotton, good luck! It's likely legging made out of cotton will ride up completely when pulling on your wetsuit.
Even though dry suits seal out water, it is possible to get wet from your perspiration or a leak; so as with other outdoor sports, the best types of clothing to wear under a dry suit are clothes made from materials that insulate even when wet.

Beware of off-shore winds that make it difficult to return to shore. Always follow the boating rules of the area you're in. Never mix alcohol or drugs (prescription or non-prescription) with boating. Never exceed the weight capacity of your boat and always check your equipment for wear and tear before you paddle.
Kayaking can help you lose weight

You can paddle alone, but you should make sure people know where you are going. Paddling alone is riskier, and even the most experienced paddlers can run into trouble sometimes. Ditch the T-Shirt and Jeans
Splashes from your paddle, an unexpected dunk in the creek or water collected in the bottom of the craft means you'll get at least a little wet. Cotton absorbs water and dries slowly, meaning a t-shirt and jeans will turn heavy, clammy and cold—and stay that way for hours.
What should you wear for kayaking, then? Quick-drying, insulating, and moisture-wicking synthetic fabrics – think neoprene, polyester, nylon, and polypropylene – are your safest bet in a wet and cold environment. If you're set on going with natural fibers, then I strongly recommend Merino wool.
There's a simple rule here. Draw a line from the bow to the stern right down the middle, that's a tight rope. So therefore never put your foot on the edge of that canoe, always in the center where the tight rope is. And then three points of contact, two hands and one foot.
Stay dry by not paddling on rainy and/or windy days
Obviously. The wind will create choppy conditions that will drive water up through your kayak's scupper holes and into your cockpit – also soaking your body, but from the bottom up. Clearly.
If your drip guards are positioned properly, water will hit them and drip down off your paddle and back into the water outside of your kayak. If your drip guards are too close to the center of your paddle shaft, they will cause water to drip down onto your kayak or, in the worst case, onto you in the cockpit.
