French International set for West Ham medical ahead of a £21.9m move to the Olympic stadium.

With the recent appointment of Manuel Pellegrini, West Ham have been linked with a several big-name profiles already this summer and with West Ham’s poor defensive record last season, the new manager has identified the need for West Ham to bring in new defensive signings this season. The Hammers have been linked with several centre backs already this window, but it seems that the club have secured one of their targets after the club agreeing a £21.9m fee with Toulouse for centre back Issa Diop.

Issa Diop made 31 appearances for the French side last season in what was a disappointing campaign for the club, narrowly missing out on relegation, however Diop was a stand-out player for them and with him representing the French National team at youth levels up to the U21’s several clubs have been monitoring his situation with reports suggesting that Monaco, Marseille, RB Leipzig and Sevilla all are believed to have held an interest.

It looks that West Ham’s early move has convinced the player to join the club with Sky Sports reporting that a medical is due to take place later this afternoon.
