It was all or nothing for Crystal Palace when they took on Manchester United in the FA Cup final having had a pretty miserable league season in the end. A win would’ve changed everything however the Eagles lost at Wembley which only added to the disappointment. Alan Pardew could quite quickly become under pressure next season should they start poorly so building the squad again will be key throughout the summer. As part of this process, he will have to get rid of the deadwood and bring in some quality additions. I look at the first 3 players Palace should look to get rid of ahead of the next campaign.
1. Lee Chung-yong
The South Korean international looked to be a strange signing from Bolton with the likes of Bolasie and Zaha at the club. He has failed to get himself into the side on a consistent basis and should certainly leave in the summer. This is particularly the case after he hit out at Alan Pardew, claiming he made absurd decisions. This you would assume, mean that he is unlikely to have a future at the club and a move away from Selhurst Park would be the best move for both parties. While the winger is technically gifted, he is not what Palace require to take them going forwards. Selling him would then allow the Eagles to bring in a more suitable replacement to put pressure on Zaha and Bolasie.
2. Frazier Campbell
Campbell has featured very few times for the South London club this season and should look to be moved on with his level of ability not being what Crystal Palace are after. His best return is just 6 league goals in the Premier League which was with Cardiff City. You would suspect that a striker is high on the list of priorities for Alan Pardew this summer so Campbell should be surplus to requirements.
3. Dwight Gayle
The former Peterborough man has been at the club a while now but he has failed to really make his mark over a consistent period of time just chipping in with the odd goal. He also wasn’t the answer up front where this season, all of the strikers failed to score more than just a handful of goals. Connor Wickham looks to be the preferred option as the lone striker and he is not exactly prolific so I feel moving Gayle on with a respectable fee coming in could finally generate some funds for a much needed quality striker.
Crystal Palace fans, do you agree with these names? Are there any other players who need to leave? Let us know in the comments below!
