Fantasy Premier League: The AOF View GW3

Written by: Siddesh Iyer

The last two gameweeks of the Premier League and in turn, the FPL have been absolute box-office yielding points in a canter for some and delivering grave blows in terms of points to some. Nevertheless, we at AOF have been dead accurate with our picks so far with almost all of our picks yielding 7+ points. Thanks to the overwhelming support and positive reviews from our readers, we present to you the 3rd edition of this series. The fixtures this Gameweek are as follows…

HUD v SOU                                                                                                    LIV  v ARS

WAT v BHA

MUN v LEI

GW3 Picks:

David Robinson, Editor-in- Chief, AOF

GW 3 Pick: Toby Alderweireld (TOT)  £6.0m

Great pick from David here. Spurs are favourites against Burnley, and this game at least on paper looks pretty straightforward unlike last week’s home loss to Chelsea. Alderweireld is this week’s best bet for a clean sheet. The Belgian defender could also be a threat from set pieces given the quality of the balls played in by Christian Eriksen. So, will Spurs finally break the Wembley hoodoo remains to be the big question; however overall Alderweireld seems to be among the top 3 defenders to rope in this week.

Andy Wood, Writer, AOF

GW3 pick: Chicharito (WHU)     £7.0m

Javier Hernandez or Chicharito as he is fondly known was on fire last week vs Southampton. The Mexican impressed last week against the Saints scoring a brace in the 3-2 loss to Southampton. In turn, he secured a whopping return of 13 points and surprised all of us at AOF.  Nevertheless, a complete goal poacher and a traditional and instinctive fox in the box, I won’t be too inaccurate to suggest that there is no one in the PL who is better than Chicharito in getting the goals when it comes to chances in the 6-yard box. This week, West Ham have a favourable fixture in facing a Newcastle side under pressure and reeling from back to back losses to Spurs and Huddersfield respectively. A hapless defense and loads of chances on offer in the 6-yard box, both Andy and we at AOF expect Chicharito hit the back of the net at least twice this Saturday.

Luke Marsh,  Writer, AOF

GW 3 Pick: Richarlison (WAT)  £6.0m

Brazilian flavour under the experienced leadership of Marco Silva, Richarlison looks bright, instinctive and built for the rigors of the Premier League. A scrappy but an instinctive and well-taken goal against Bournemouth and this week up against a newly promoted side, Brighton. Brighton are still coming to terms with life in the Premier League. The Seagulls are on the back of two back to back losses. So, Richarlison seems to be an astute choice here by Luke to get points from midfield at an affordable price.

Ryan Fisher, Writer, AOF

GW 3 pick: Sebastian Prödl (WAT)   £4.5m

Again Seb Prödl faces Brighton this week, and they look highly unlikely to score against Watford after a great start for the Hornets compared to a pretty poor one for the Seagulls. Moreover, Prödl could also be a threat from set pieces offering premium points from defense at a nominal price. Overall, a great choice from Ryan especially for those looking for a shuffle up in defense for a budget price.

GW3 picks:  Romelu Lukaku (MUN) [Capt.]  £11.7m  Differential: Chicharito (WHU) £7.0m

Romelu Lukaku and Man Utd are on fire at the moment. Therefore, the upcoming home game against Leicester doesn’t show too much going against them. It should be another comfortable home win with Lukaku and his compatriots finding weaknesses in the Leicester defense to create and finish chances. Lukaku is currently owned by 57% of the FPL managers, making him the most popular choice on this platform. Another dark horse for the captain role this week is Chicharito from West Ham, about whom we’ve already spoken in the preceding paragraphs.

All in all, yet another exhilarating and action packed gameweek of football is almost upon us. So make your FPL choices wisely and on time and good luck for GW3!
