Fab-U-8 Match Day Weekend 30th November

Disappointing start bet wise last weekend with only 3 from my 8 correct but Palace, Luton & Doncaster all nearly pulled out the results I predicted.

A mixed bag this weekend with my Fab8, not as many clear result selections but all intriguing games!

PREMIER LEAGUE

Spurs v Bournemouth

2 wins out of 2 for Mr Mourinho, but his work is most definitely cut out short term. He has rejuvenated Dele Alli already but the defence needs major work. Since Spurs moved into the refurbished Lane their performances leave a lot to be desired. You can never be too sure which Bournemouth will turn up, at times this season their defence has been solid which is not a Eddie Howe teams usual identity. Calum Wilson, Josh King & Ryan Fraser could have a field day on the break facing one paced Alderweireld and clumsy pairing Aurier & Sanchez.

Prediction – Over 3.5 goals

CHAMPIONSHIP

Leeds Utd v Middlesborough

2nd week running Leeds have been listed within this column, please no comparisons to Sky Sports! The odd goal has seen them win many a game this season and I cannot see much change this weekend.  The tnteresting element to this game is the return to Elland Road for Jonathan Woodgate, arguably their best defender over the last 25 years. With his home town team the best he can hope for is a draw, the one Boro player Leeds would have is Britt Assombalonga, the danger man.

Prediction – Assombalonga goal anytime

League 2

Macclesfield v Bradford City

Only one League 2 so for the 2nd week running Bradford feature. I love the look of this game as even with home advantage you cannot make an argument for Macclesfield…..or can you? 2 nil nil’s on the trot with teams in and around them will breed confidence. Ex Brentford player Theo Archibald if selected this week will cause Bradford plenty of issues out wide but the experience of James Vaughan for The Bantams will see them through.

Prediction – Bradford City Win

FA CUP

Eastleigh v Crewe Alexandra

Crewe are near the top of League 2 for a reason but a 3rd game in 7 days, 2 away within 4 days could mean tired legs or the resting of a few players. If Chris Porter is rested then I make Eastleigh favourites as the home crowd and heavy, soggy Silverlake Stadium surface will create a old school Cup vibe.

Prediction – Eastleigh Win

Shrewsbury Town v Mansfield Town

2 mid table sides within their respective divisions, both will fancy their chances to beat the other with the lure of a big game in the next round. This round is the semi final for so many teams hoping to play one of England’s top sides. Josh Laurent for Shrewsbury did not deserve to be on the losing side last weekend after his 2 goal performance but maybe the most well known player on the pitch will be Nicky Maynard. He promised so much but never delivered consistently at the top level, Saturday could be his day though with Mansfield playing on the break against their higher placed opponent.

Prediction – Maynard 2+ goals

SCOTLAND

Ayr v Arbroath

Ayr have been so impressive this season but their last game way back on the 9th of November was a defeat to Queen of the South. The form guide is totally out of the window due to Arbroath struggling to get past Auchinleck Town!!! 2nd v 5th, the battle in the Championship is for runners up behind Dundee Utd this season.

Prediction – Both teams to score

ITALY

Genoa v Torino

Seeing this fixture takes me back to the Channel 4 days showing Gazzeto with James Richardson, iconic kits and badges. Tomas Skuhravy for Genoa and Gianlugi Lentini for Torino, those were the days! Andrea Belotti will be the star man in 2019 continuing his impressive goal scoring form and bringing his team back to winning ways.

Prediction – Torino Win

SPAIN

Valencia v Villareal

Valencia win and they pull away from their opponents but defeat means Villareal jump in front of them. Valencia will be buoyed after their comeback draw with Chelsea but will hope Maxi Gomez brings his shooting boots this weekend after 2 shocking misses v Chelsea. Like the Italian pick this weekend this game reminds of years gone by, Valencia consistently live beneath the Mendietta sides shadow while Villareal in my eyes are linked to Juan Roman Riquelme, one of footballs most majestic, gliding no 10’s not known to the masses.

Prediction – Over 2.5 goals

If you place the above in an acca you get odds of 8747.91…..good luck guys and if you are not going to bet keep an eye out on these games.
