New Everton gaffer Marco Silva is said to be interested in hijacking Watford’s deal for Moroccan left-back Adam Masina, as reported by Sport Witness.
It has been reported that the Hornets are set to sign the 24-year-old for a fee of £7m.
Silva has been a keen admirer of the full-back for some time, with the interest from Watford being instigated from Silva’s time there.
Masina has previously caught the eye of Italian giants Juventus and Premier League side Tottenham, but nothing ever materialised.
The speedy full-back has come up through the ranks at Bologna, making his professional debut in 2014, where he helped the club to Serie A promotion, whilst establishing himself as first choice left-back at the club.
Masina won the Serie B’s Footballer of the Year award in 2015.
Now that Marcel Brands has been confirmed as the Toffees Director of Football, the rebuilding process at Everton is set to begin, as Marco Silva will be looking to have more value for money players in his ranks, with Everton paying rather high wages last season for a lot of players who didn’t feature.
Everton appear to be running thin of left-backs with Leighton Baines the one senior player in that position.
Masina, the former Italy U21 International, made 34 Serie A appearances this season winning 3.4 aerial duals a game and having a very impressive 76% passing success.
