England under-21 International Dean Henderson is one of six players to be offered new deals by Manchester United, with the Englishman taking a ‘U turn’ and deciding to stay at Old Trafford, as reported by Manchester Evening News.
Henderson- 21-years-old, had impressed this season on loan at Shrewsbury, as he narrowly missed out on promotion with the Salops losing 2-1 in their play-off final against Rotherham United.
Henderson is out of contract this summer, but is one of six players to be offered a new deal by the club.
It was reported that Henderson was wanted by Premier League heavyweights Chelsea and Arsenal, but the youngster has been persuaded to stay and will pen a new deal at the club, with a promise of being loaned out to a Championship team next season to further his development.
Henderson has only featured in United’s team once in 2016, sitting on the bench due to an injury crisis in the 3-0 victory in the FA Cup over Shrewsbury Town.
The youngster has represented England from under-16 level all the way through to the under-21.
The England under-21 International has had three loan spells while at Old Trafford, spending time at Stockport County, Grimsby Town and Shrewsbury Town making a total of 64 appearances in all competitions.
Henderson has spent seven years at United, joining at the young age of 14 after six years with Carlisle United.
