Derby Day At Glanford Park – SUFC vs DRFC

Hi everyone, welcome back to AOF. As I’m writing this, it is Friday the 19th of January and derby day is coming up at Glanford Park, the home of Scunthorpe United. We play Doncaster Rovers on the 23rd of January under the floodlights. No better way to spend your Tuesday night. Here are my thoughts:

Earlier on in the season, in September, we played Doncaster Rovers away. We won 1-o, and I have to say, we deserved it. The uproar of us United fans drowned out the booing of the Rovers fans in the Keepmoat Stadium. I remember walking out of the ground with a SUFC flag around me, smiling smugly at the Doncaster fans who passed me. What a feeling. Can we do the same on Tuesday night?

Back in December, we played Doncaster away again, this time for the FA Cup. I didn’t go, but as you can probably guess, I’m glad I didn’t. We lost 3-0, and from other fans who did go, we “didn’t put much effort in”. So maybe this time at home, we will focus a little more.

Despite the 3-1 loss to Gillingham on Saturday, I’m excited for Tuesday night. UTI!
