Could Dele Alli reunite with former coach Mauricio Pochettino at PSG?

during the Premier League match between Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur at St. James Park on August 13, 2017 in Newcastle upon Tyne, England.

PSG are stepping up their efforts to sign the Tottenham midfielder on loan. Mauricio Pochettino has told the club that Dele Alli is the main target during this transfer window.

Dele Alli has only appeared 4 times for Spurs in the Premier League and featured mostly in cup competitions. The 24-year-old was impressive during the Fa cup win at Marine last week, setting up two of Tottenham’s 5 goals.

With the Euro championships on the horizon, should it go ahead, the England international will want to be in the squad, having been left out since September 2019, this including the Euro 2020 qualifying matches.

According to Telefoot Chaine’s Simone Rivera, Dele Alli wants to go to Paris. His relationship with Mourinho isn’t great and he would be happy to find his manager again. Spurs boss previously has questioned the midfielder’s attitude towards training and performance and had accused the England international of ‘creating problems for his own team’ after the win over Stoke in the Carabao Cup.

Tottenham are not looking to sell the midfielder on loan or permanently. Due to playing in so many competitions, Spurs are hoping Dele Alli can fight for his position for the rest of the season. Jose Mourinho’s men are in the Carabao cup final, in the Fa Cup, Europa League, and only 6 points behind leaders Manchester United in the Premier League title race.

The French champions had all three bids rejected from Tottenham in the summer with Chairman Daniel Levy reluctant not allowing Dele Alli to leave. The midfielder has a contract with the club until 2024, having signed a six-year deal in 2018.

The Ligue 1 side have also been linked with another former Tottenham player Christian Eriksen according to Fabrizio Romano, but it is Alli that Pochettino is interested in. Further talks between the players and the club are set to take place over the next few days.

I think it’ll be a good move for Dele Alli in his career and it makes sense, with the lack of game time at Spurs, PSG can help him rebuild his confidence. I think there’s more of a chance of him getting in the PSG squad than getting regular time at Tottenham. It’s a similar situation of Everton’s Loanee Moise Kean, with the striker not getting much game time with the Toffees, he has now scored 11 goals with the French champions

PSG already have the likes of Mbappe and Neymar playing in a similar position Dele Alli plays in, so it’s not going to be easy competing with them. However, I feel having such a strong connection with Pochettino, he can make a great contribution for the remainder of the season.
