Luton Town hit terrible form as Colchester United make a late playoff push.
The game started awfully for the visitors as the Us made a dream start. Taking an early lead in the fourth minute when Chris Porter headed home.
Colchester continued to dominate the game. This pressure was rewarded when Chris Porter got on the end of another cross to double his tally and the hosts lead. This was followed soon after by a first half substitution, James Justin replacing Jake Gray, Nathan Jones was clearly unhappy with the performance.
The first half ended with the home side leading by two goals and boos from the visiting fans, after a terrible first half performance from their team.
The Hatters improved in the second half and slowly grew into the game. The home keeper made a few crucial saves and James Justin had effort cleared off the line. Some great football was played but this was not enough to take anything from game after such a terrible start.
Luton waited till stoppage time to finally put the ball into the back of the net, but this was to little to late for the Hatters as they and there fans headed home unhappy.
Colchester United now sit in tenth and only two points off of the top seven and are more than contenders to make it into a playoff place. Mid table Notts County next up for the Us which they are clear favourites to take all three points from. While Luton Town have some real work on there hands to maintain a playoff place let alone achieve the dream of automatic promotion. With out a win in five The Hatters could easily drop out of the top seven with anything but a win against in form to Blackpool next time out.
