Week 4 of the Chinese Super League kicked off with two of the big boys Tianjin Quanjian taking on Guangzhou Evergrande. Tianjin had much of the ball in the first half but looked vulnerable on the break. Tianjin were lucky to go in to the break tied at 0-0 after Goulart smashed a penalty high over the bar. Gao Lin scored on 55 minutes, shortly after Alan was sent off for a suspected elbow.
At the same time Shanghai SIPG took on Chongqing Lifan with SIPG looking to continue their unbeaten start to the season.
China’s hottest property upfront Wu Lei put the would be champions level at 1-1 on 18 minutes after Yang Ke had opened the scoring for the away side. Yu Hai then put SIPG in control with a goal on 28 minutes. SIPG continue to steam roll the league with only a red card for Ahmedov spoiling the win.
Changchun Yatai’s rough start and rough luck continued with a loss at home to Guangzhou R&F. In a game that personifies the drama the CSL can offer Xiaofie had put Changchun on course for a first win of the season before Mr reliable Eran Zahavi scored to level it at 1-1. The game looked set to finish in a perhaps fair 1-1 draw until R&f were awarded a last minute penalty which Renatinho converted, Yu Rei was sent off for the handball which gave away the penalty. Then as if this wasnt enoug drama Changchun which was saved, Ighalo smashed in the rebound only for it to be reviewed again by VAR and ruled for encroachment of the area.
The Beijing Derby also took place this weekend with newly promoted Renhe away at Guoan. Guoan were comfortably on top for the duration of the game with Soriano, Yang, Viera and Dabao scoring to give Guaon a comprehensive home victory.
Shanghai Shenhua came back from behind against Hebei China Fortune. Shenhua’s goals were scored by Guarin and a hat trick from Martins. Hebei scored through Chengdong and Lavezzi who continue their poor start to the league.
Yannick Carrasco scored a potential goal of the season with a wonderful volleyed effort in the first half against Henan to open his account for Dalian Yifang. Not one to be outdone and also looking to celebrate his new contract Bassogog levelled the score to ensure both teams shared the points, giving Dalian their first point in the CSL.
Guizhou Zhicheng tore up the form book with a 2-0 away win at Shandong Luneng to give them their first win of the season. Goals from Trawally and a first goal in China from Suarez meant Shandong lost their first game of the season.
In Jiangsu Sunings first game since Fabio Capello’s departure they won at home 2-1 against Tianjin Teda. Debutant Boakye scored a penalty on 75 minutes, Teixeira doubled their lead 2 minutes later before Jonathan made the last ten minutes of the tie exciting making it 2-1.
