Fans were hopeful of success with the former Burton and QPR manager in the dugout and as the hard work continued on the training ground the prospect of a turn of fortune seemed a likely hope for supporters.

Haaslebaink throughout his incredible professional career demonstrated a skill for finding the net as the Dutch striker netted over 200 goals in over 400 appearances for teams such as Chelsea and Atletico Madrid. With stats like those you could see why fans were excited for the future under his reign. One thing the cobblers boss has promised is hard work along with ambition and determination in the new style of play and states that he will not settle for anything less than 100% from his players.

A few of the new players have been on form since the arrival of the Dutchman, Matt Crooks in particular after netting 3 goals in 3, The powerful midfielder suffered a setback to his form when he received a second yellow card late on against Southend United at the weekend. Matt Ingram has also been a standout performer under Haaslebaink pulling off some incredible saves at crucial parts of the game playing a huge part in the cobblers hanging on to their points.

Haaslebaink seems pleased with how his team has turned around their form but states he is not settling yet and still demands more from his squad. After a run of results so far under the new manager the spirit of the cobblers fans is sure to be lifted, 7 points from a possible 12, the only loss coming to the hands of title favourites Wigan, although with some promising performances it is not a bad way to start his reign. The new look Northampton Town side is looking very strong and if they continue to build on this positive start they will surely be up there come the end of the season, there is a sense of relief around sixfields at the moment due to a new start for Northampton Town and an exciting one for the season ahead…
