Chelsea are being linked with a stunning £60 million pound move for Brazil and Roma goalkeeper Alisson, but only if they were to lose Thibaut Courtois.

The Brazilian could be the perfect replacement for Chelsea’s current no.1 who is still yet to agree a new deal with the London club, and with rivals Liverpool and Spanish giants Real Madrid chasing the Belgian’s signature, Courtois could be set to leave Stamford Bridge.

Alisson’s stunning performances for Roma this season led the Italian side to a Champions League semi-final and a third-place finish in the Serie A, and according to Caught Offside he could be on his way to the Premier League with Chelsea.

The 25-year-old made 37 appearances in the league, keeping 17 clean sheets, which was the second highest in the league and two more than Courtois this season.

Alisson’s impressive campaign has earned him a place in Brazil’s 23-man World Cup squad but he could miss out on a starting place to Manchester City’s Ederson – who has been impressive in his debut season in the Premier League.

Comparing both Alisson and Courtois is difficult, the Belgian’s height and reach means he is more aerially dominant out of the two but, Alisson’s athleticism and impressive shot-stopping has meant he is one of the most in-demand players in Europe at the moment with Liverpool and Real Madrid previously showing interest in the Roma shot-stopper.

Chelsea must ensure that if they lose a world-class keeper in Courtois they replace him with a goalkeeping heavyweight like Alisson.

But recent transfers following their title winning season in 2016/17 shows that the recruitment of Alvaro Morata and Tiemoue Bakayoko to replace Diego Costa and Nemanja Matic respectively, have not worked out this season with the Blues finishing outside of the Champions League spots.

Alisson is up to the standards that Chelsea would need to replace the big Belgian goalkeeper. He’s proven himself at European level, in the Champions League, and can fill Courtois’ shoes if he decides to leave the Blues in the summer. However, with Antonio Conte expected to leave and Maurizio Sarri rumoured to be taking charge at Stamford Bridge, Courtois may be persuaded to stay at the club.
