Antonio Conte’s Chelsea put in a convincing win against champions Leicester City as the blues ran out 3-0 winners on the day.
Goals from Diego Costa , Eden Hazard and Victor Moses eased the home side to all 3 points as more misery was heaped on to a struggling Leicester City side.
With only one win in the League in almost a month for the blues a win was the perfect answer to their critics as former foxes star N’golo Kante stole the show after his man of the match performance.
Chelsea started the brightest of the two teams and it wasn’t long before the Premier league’s top goal scorer Diego Costa added to his tally once again. As on the 7th minute an Eden Hazard cross found its way to an unmarked Costa at the back post who fired home his 9th goal in all competitions this season.
Shortly after the half hour mark the hosts doubled their lead when Nemanja Matic’s pass was eventually received by an in form Eden Hazard after a mix up in the Leicester City defence, for the Belgium winger to subsequently round a helpless Kasper Schmeichel and slot home his 3rd goal in the League for Chelsea.
With the four time Premier League Champions now in total control their two goal margin was almost further extended as David Luiz stung the hands of goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel from a free kick right on half time, with the Brazilian counting himself unlucky not to score earlier on in the 27th minute from another dead ball situation which rattled the post.
However, the Foxes responded well from their miserable first 45 minutes after the half time interval as a Marc Albrighton cross almost forced David Luiz into scoring an own goal with the defender firing against his own post, with the winger also shooting wide from a speculative effort shortly after the break.
Despite the early second half pressure from the visitors Chelsea soon created chances of their own with both N’golo Kante and Victor Moses coming close to scoring.
Moses however did eventually add his name to the score sheet. The former Liverpool and Wigan man played a sumptuous one-two with Nathaniel Chalobah before clinically slotting home for his team.
After the game Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri blasted his players over their first half performance and said “he had forgotten about the first 45 minutes” all together.
“I forgot about the first 45, because they play so well, and we concede everything. I changed the system at half time and the players responded better but the first half as not good”, the Italian said after the game.
However the self proclaimed “tinker man” will have to quickly pick his side up following on from this latest defeat ahead of their mid week Champions League clash against FC Copenhagan on Tuesday evening.
In contrast his opposite Italian number Antonio Conte seems to have found the winning formula for his newly formed Chelsea side and having now got the best out of star men Hazard and Costa, his main challenge is now making sure his side keep with the consistency of performances shown on display today.
