Champions League unlikely for Chelsea next season

In a must win game at Stamford Bridge against 4th placed Spurs, Antonio Conte's Chelsea crumbled and now the gap between Spurs and Chelsea is 8.

Everyone predicted it would be a hard season for Chelsea following their failings in the transfer market but optimism was there that they would at least finish in a Champions League spot, but a comeback from Spurs means that Chelsea will most likely have to settle for the Europa League next season.

Alvaro Morata headed Chelsea into the lead while Eriksens superb strike on the stroke of half time leveled things for Spurs and then in the second half, 2 goals in 4 minutes from Dele Alli settled the affair which resulted in a historic win for Tottenham. It also solidifies their bid for a Champions League spot as they are now 8 points ahead.

A lack of Champions League football next season might make Chelsea a less attractive proposition for incoming players and also the fact that Conte will most definitely  leave at the end of the season will make it harder to lure a world class manager .

So at the moment, Chelsea are in a heap of trouble.
