According to Wales Online, Cardiff City are reportedly looking to land the signing of Besiktas midfielder Tolgay Arslan.
The newly promoted side will have to shrug off interest from Italian powerhouses Roma and Inter to capture the 27-year-old’s signature.
Arslan was an ever-present part in Beskitas’ midfield within a team that finished fourth in the Turkish Super Liga this season. He made 29 appearances in the league and was pivotal in the Champions League too as the Black Birds reached the round of 16 before they were knocked out by Bayern Munich.
With reinforcements needed for the Bluebirds, as they prepare for their first season in the Premier League since 2013-14, the Welsh side are ready to offer around £7 million for the German born midfielder.
The central-midfielder will be familiar with England’s top-flight clubs, most notably for his vital part in helping Beskitas defeat Liverpool in the Europa League back in 2014/15.
Beskitas teammate Gary Medel could become a crucial part in the move with the Chilean having already played for the Welsh club. The 30-year-old was a part of Cardiff’s side that was relegated back in 2013-14 and became a fan favourite in Wales for his courageous style of play.
Unlike Medel, Arslan is very much a box to box midfielder who looks to carry the ball out from defence and drive into the opposition’s half. His physicality and aggressive nature could be a big hit in the Premier League.
Contracting the correct players will be important for Neil Warnock and his Cardiff side if they are to survive at the top level.
