Cardiff City vs Queens Park Rangers Preview: Warnock Faces Former Club

Written by Sam Bettany

The high-flying Bluebirds are looking to make it five wins from five as they host Neil Warnock’s former club Queens Park Rangers on Saturday.

Both teams have made solid starts to their league campaigns, and whilst they both slipped up mid-week in the Carabao Cup, both managers will be confident of grabbing all three points with full-strength line-ups.

Cardiff have impressively managed to defeat the likes of Aston Villa and Wolves, whilst QPR have secured wins against Hull and Reading, showing they too are in contention for a place near the top of the table.

The recent record between the two clubs in this fixture will give QPR confidence, having remained unbeaten against the Bluebirds in the last six meetings, winning three of those ties.

Cardiff will be desperate to put an end to that record when Ian Holloway’s men travel to the Welsh capital and maintain their position at the top of the EFL Championship.

Team News:

Cardiff maybe without Anthony Pilkington due to fitness but will likely be reintroducing the in-form pairing of Kenneth Zohore and Nathaniel Mendez-Laing as part of their starting XI.

QPR now have James Perch out alongside Grant Hall, Jordan Cousins and Joel Lynch, but Holloway’s heavy 10 man rotation mid-week in the cup means regulars such as Alex Smithies, Nedum Onuoha and Conor Washington will return.

Prediction:

Cardiff City 3-1 QPR (Zohore x2, Mendez-Laing // Sylla)
