Newcastle United face a very tough game this Saturday away to Burton Albion. Burton who are currently 21st in the Championship. But don’t be fooled after Tuesday nights defeat to  Huddersfield where the Brewers lost the game 1-0 this was and make no mistake about it a very tough game for Huddersfield. Burton are a very difficult side to play against and will try to stop the opposition from playing their brand of football.

So how can the brewers stop Newcastle from dominating the game, firstly you have to stop Shelvey playing which won’t be easy as he can play a 50 yard pass as easily as he can a 5 yard pass and can split defences in one pass of the ball. The Brewers will be expected to be spectators in this game and if Newcastle take them lightly I fear this could end in defeat for the Magpies.

Burton manager Nigel Clough said “this is the clubs biggest mismatch” which I take in the context that this will be used to motivate his players for the game. Newcastle won at Wigan on Wednesday night, but were far from convincing in what was an average game at best. Burton are above the drop zone by 2 points and are ahead of Blackburn Rovers. Burton’s ground holds 6,912 supporters but they can be as loud as anyone other side in the Championship.

This will be the first time the two sides have met in what I gather to be in any competition. Newcastle cannot afford to take Burton for granted and should expect a very tough afternoon on Saturday, we know how Newcastle like to play their football, dominating teams but Burton will make this extremely difficult in terms of possession football by the visitors.

Creative midfield man Jonjo Shelvey may have other things on his mind come Saturday as he has his FA hearing looming over him, so manager Rafa Bentiez may choose to rest one of his star men, although I’m sure Shelvey will want to play in this game regardless. Burton will of course attack Newcastle throughout the game and it will be interesting to see how Newcastle respond to a side like Burton Albion.

I really look forward to seeing the outcome of this game and I think the game will end in a Newcastle win, but I can see Burton upsetting the form book, make no mistake about it Newcastle United will be in for a very difficult afternoon this coming weekend.
