Arsene Wenger has managed Arsenal Football Club for over 20 years. He is currently the longest standing manager in English Football. He is considered and will continue to be considered as one of the all-time greats. But should Arsene Wenger be sacked as manager of Arsenal?
Well for the purposes of not wanting an argument, I will not state my opinion. It is up to you to leave a comment on your opinion. The purpose of this article is to list the reasons of him leaving or staying at Arsenal.
It is an opinion that has divided fans of Arsenal for 4-5 years and this debate has resulted in fights in the stands and passionate rants on ArsenalFanTV. It is clear that his presence at the club has made it somewhat toxic, but that doesn’t take away from what he has done.
Arsene Wenger’s greatest achievement has to be the Invincibles season of 2003-04. “49, 49 undefeated” sing the fans of Arsenal, almost every game. I can guarantee you that some of those fans definitely want Wenger to leave the club. Remember, Wenger did that and yet fans who want him out seem to forget one of his greatest accomplishments. However, some fans do remember this and still want him out. “Thanks for the memories, but its time to say goodbye”. In my opinion, a respectful way to say your opinion. It’s not “NO NEW CONTRACT” or “WENGER OUT”, the banner reminds fans of what he’s done but, for the future of the club, also reminds them that he’s got to go.
So obviously The Invincibles are a crucial factor for the Wenger In camp, but what have the Wenger Out camp got going for them?
- No Champions League.
- No Premier League Title for 13 years.
- Two trophies in 13 years.
- Best players leaving to rival clubs
…and there’s many more. Obviously Arsene Wenger has made many slip ups and listed above are some genuine reasons why he should leave Arsenal. Arsenal are a huge team in this country and it is a disgrace that they haven’t won a title for this long, especially since their last title was won by their best ever squad.
However, there’s two sides to every story in football. So what reasons do the Wenger In camp have to support their manager, despite years of ‘punishment’.
- The owners can be blamed, not Wenger.
- Greatest manager Arsenal have ever had.
- Joint most amount of FA Cups in England (with Manchester United).
…and, similarly to the Out supporters, there’s many more. These reasons are all fair and are often used when Wenger In fans campaign for him to stay. In fact, the above list shows how much of a 50-50 argument it is, hence why I won’t be saying my opinion and will be leaving it to you in the comments. The Invincibles are the greatest team in Premier League history and Arsene Wenger is one of the best managers. All fair reasons as to why Wenger should stay at Arsenal.
So that’s my part done, it’s up to you now. Drop a comment and let me know if he should stay or if he should go.
