Sky Sports are reporting Arsenal and a number of other Premier League clubs are interested in defender Caglar Soyuncu from Freiburg. Caglar is 22-years-old and would follow a number of young players to make the move to Arsenal in recent years in the clubs can agree a deal.
Arsenal's main problem last season was defence and they were especially weak in central defence and Unai Emery has pinpointed this area and has identifed a number of players who could possibly fit into that position.
Soyuncu has made 55 appearances for Freiburg since joining them in 2016 and has been capped 15 times by Turkey. Arsenal's head of recruitment who has been liked to many since he joined the club is again said to have had interest in Soyuncu since he was at Dortmund according to Soyuncu's agent.
He revealed via Turkish-football.com: "Sven Mislintat has been keen on Caglar since he was at Dortmund. These are concrete talks - all that remains is for a fee to be agreed."
It is also rumoured that Liverpool are also interested and Dogru said that there are up to four Premier League teams in talks with the player. There is interest from Italy, Spain and Germany but according to Dogru the Premier League is what Soyuncu will be best suited to.
"He is tough and very physical, that is why I feel the Premier League is ideal for a defender with these attributes."
Arsenal have already strengthened in defence this summer by adding right back Stephan Lichtsteiner and are close to agreeing a deal for midfielder Lucas Torreira from Sampdoria.
