The North London Derby has ended in a 2-1 win for the Gunners after an excellent comeback being 1-0 down with Erik Lamela scoring. Tottenham were easily pressured within the opening 15 minutes of the match. Son Heung-Min, arguably Spurs’ best player this season, picked up an injury and no one was looking like scoring on the Lilywhites’ part. Arsenal kept pushing on until a chance from Smith-Rowe unfortunately did a crossbar challenge.
However, it l00ked as if the game was lost when David Luiz had a Mustafi moment when Lamela scored a rabona goal. But then, out of nowhere before half-time, Odegaard scored his first Premier League goal and equalized the game. When the whistle blew for the second half, the pressure quite clearly was on Spurs for about 10 minutes. Then it finally took it’s toll when Sanchez fouled Lacazette and the Gunners were awarded a penalty. Easily scored by the latter as he sent Lloris the wrong way.
Even though Kane had attempt after attempt, he still couldn’t find his goal. For the first time since 2017, Kane did not score in battle for North London. Erik Lamela then received his second yellow card and was sent off for doing a Fellani on Kieran Tierny. Hero to zero just like that.
After 5 minutes of extra time, the final was blown and Arsenal had their revenge over their arch-rivals. They haven’t won a North London derby since that legendary 4-2 victory in the 2018-19 season. So, obviously, Arsenal fans were buzzing with this victory. The AFTV interviews will all be positive tonight.
As an Arsenal fan, I am proud to say that North London is red once again.
