Arsenal Aim Sights For Guido

Reports today have shown that Arsenal have set their sights on the 27-year-old Argentinian Real Betis midfielder, Guido Rodriguez. It is no question that the Gunners need strength in their midfield. They already have one part taken care of in Thomas Partey however, in this reporters view, he needs a better partner then Granit Xhaka. As much as Xhaka has put in his good performances in recent games, I have been a massive critic of his and I simply have no faith in him at all. I understand he’s not the worst player on the carpet but I feel that ever since Arsene Wenger signed him in 2016, that’s when our penultimate downfall started.

It’s also worth noting that Arsenal have been rumored to let Lucas Torreira go after his loan spell at Atletico Madrid comes to an end. [Just to say, I do not agree with this in any way. I want to see a Partey and Torreira partnership]. Also, the catastrophic crash landing of Dani Ceballos’ performances has resulted in him wanting to return to Real Madrid.

So, with all that in mind, Arteta has set his sights on Rodriguez from Real Betis. The fee has not been disclosed as far as I can see, but I have read elsewhere that Rodriguez has a release clause of £69.5 million. That’s £24.5 million more than Arsenal paid for Thomas Partey’s release clause so I do not think they will initiate that. Unless of course Daniel Ek manages to buy the club of Stan Kroenke before then. But who knows if that will happen.

After watching some videos on the Argentinian, I will be happy to have him at the Emirates next season. He’s shown to be a strong defensive minded player.
