With the biggest footballing competition in Africa already underway and with stars such as Riyad Mahrez taking part, I look into players who are good enough to also make a mark in the Premier League.

Frank Kessie – Atlanta
The 20 year-old Ivorian has strongly been linked with title chasers Chelsea. Kessie plays in the centre of midfield. He has a great engine on him as well as being very strong. Technically very sound too he is normally employed in the defensive midfield position but can also play as a box-to-box. Kessie has 6 goals to his name for club, not bad for a midfielder. He is not the finished product yet but has all the foundations to become a world-class midfielder. Surely under the tutelage of Conte he will be able to fulfil his potential. Chelsea also need more competition in those places now that Obi-Mikel has left.

Keita Balde – Lazio

The 21 year-old Spanish-born Senegalese is a real gem of a player. Starting his youth career at UE Cornella, he was soon snapped up by Barcelona and stayed there until he moved to Lazio’s U19’s. Comfortable on either wing as well as in the centre forward role, Keita has got great dribbling as well as being extremely quick. His finishing is improving by season with currently carrying 5 goals to his name this season, his season’s best already. I personally believe that Keita would flourish in the Premier league as it is a much more open league than the Serie A in terms of space. Time will tell if he will become a world beater but he has got a lot of potential for sure.

Kalidou Koulibaly – Napoli

The 25 year-old centre back has been linked with Chelsea for months now and it surely has to be a matter of time before the signing is completed. Koulibaly is one of Serie A’s best centre backs. He is tall, strong and very quick for his stature which makes him a nightmare for opposing strikers. With an average pass completion of 90% he can pass the ball too. Strong in the tackle and big in the air, it is no surprise he is carrying a 50 million tag price on him. A great centre back with plenty of years ahead of him to make a big impact in the premier league. With Terry likely to go soon, what a great signing Koulibaly would be for Chelsea.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang- Borussia Dortmund

The Gabonese does not need any introductions. He is one of the finest strikers in modern football, full of pace, great dribbling and constantly scoring goals. He has been linked with Pep’s Manchester City of late and seeming unsettled at Dortmund and seeking a move to a bigger team whilst he is at the peak of his footballing. He is definitely the biggest star in AFCON this year and the Premier league would welcome him with open arms for sure. His ability and strengths would flourish in this league too.

Let me know if any more players you believe could make a mark in the Premier league in the comments below!
