Academy graduate Ruben Loftus-Cheek told he will have a ‘prominent role’ at Stamford Bridge next season

Chelsea have informed midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek that he will play a ‘prominent first-team role’ next season, after the England International was uncertain over his future at the club, as reported by the Gambling Times.

The 22-year-old joined Chelsea at the age of eight and was sent out on loan to fellow Premier League side Crystal Palace last season.

Loftus-Cheek impressed many with his ten minute cameo against Tunisia for England on Monday. Helping the Three Lions to a 2-1 victory, with Loftus-Cheek and Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford described as the game changers.

The midfielder made 24 appearances in the Premier League for Crystal Palace last season, which would have been more if it hadn’t been for a number of injuries, including an ankle injury which kept him out for 14 matches.

He was a fan favourite at Selhurst Park, forming a lethal partnership with teammate Wilfred Zaha, as the Englishman scored two goals while providing three assists.

A number of impressive performances for Crystal Palace earned the classy midfielder a first full International call-up to Gareth Southgate’s England squad for friendlies against Germany and Brazil in November 2017.

The England International has been rumoured to a move away after getting frustrated over lack of game time at Stamford Bridge in recent years.

Loftus-Cheek has been rumoured to moves to fellow Premier League clubs Liverpool where he would be following another Chelsea academy graduate in Dominic Solanke, as well as Everton and a permenant move back to Selhurst Park.
