The start of the season held so much promise for Villa, a reputable manager brought in some fresh new players and a few young players to build for the future. The only problem that was not addressed in last summer was the purchase of a top striker. However most of Villa’s team performances this season have been totally lacklustre and just abysmal for their faithful to watch. So here are 3 players I believe have underperformed the most during the season and that need to be pushed out of the club following relegation.
1. Joleon Lescott
An experienced centre back who got the player of the year award in his one season at The Baggies. He then got his ‘dream move’ to Villa last summer. It’s a massive shame he didn’t perform like a fan on the pitch. Never giving 100%, never putting his body on the line are just two of the many reasons why this once good and popular England international is way past his hay day. Not to mention some of his atrocious twitter posts.
2. Micah Richards
Once a highly rated youngster, his season at Villa has followed his career and fizzled out. He was made captain and seemed to be a good choice to help sure up Villa’s shaky defence. But with a combination of a lack of backbone and passion led to the Villa captain not being able to lead or even give 100% in most games.
3. Gabriel Agbonlahor
Usually a stalwart performer for the Villains, but not this season. Always able to chip in with a few goals for the Birmingham based club, but again, not this season. Few runs down the wings, no tracking back to help his beleaguered defence and just generally not putting in as much as a shift as the Villa fans are used to seeing from him.
Those are my 3, Villa fans; I want to know, am I right? Who would you get rid of? And what are your hopes are for next season?
